Triplex Unity Theory, much like the Taoist's Yin-Yang Theory from which it derives, is an ancient symbolic method of depicting, describing and understanding the perceived primal forces of nature. Mentioned in a variety of classic Taoist texts, it is a somewhat little known and rarely discussed aspect of Taoist philosophy, depsite the fact that it necessarily fits within the Taoist Cosmogeny that includes both Yin-Yang and 5 Element theories, and has great bearing on the complete panorama of Taoist thought.

Triplex Unity Theory can best be described as the form or concept behind modern day Trivalent Logic, Fuzzy Logic, Trinary Algebra, Ternary Arithmetics, and a number of other logic systems that describe the interrelationship between three polarities, as opposed to two, although it is considerably more complex.

Many people have observed the prevalence and the importance of the number 3 in all walks of life, yet what they do not realise that these instances are all aspects of the Triplex Unity, a concept which has been observed and described in great detail in ancient Chinese Taoist thought and writings.
